We started the trip with four days on Ambergris Caye diving and sitting on the beach. The diving was quite good-- it was Melinda's first time since her certification. We did a night dive and saw an octopus which made my day.

The other highlights of the Caye were munching coconut cakes. watching the world cup games in the outdoor bar (I listened to the last World Cup game in Spanish in the parking lot of Tikal with a bunch of cabbies).

A truly wonderful place-- a high-end lodge set amongst minor Mayan ruins. The birding was diverse and easy. We were there at the same time as a Victor Emmanuel tour, so we were a bit disgusted by the nightly listing ritual.
