Lake District
Before the wedding, I traveled with my friend Alice Evatt, who I had met on Stewart Island in New Zealand. She was living in Bristol and showed me some of the sights. We visited Bath first (I'm not sure where the pictures are?)...
then on to the Lake District. What an impressive place!
Being an American, I was accustomed to the National Park as public land model, but it was a nice change to stroll through active farm fields.
This was the height of the foot-and-mouth scare, which kept the numbers down.
One of the hikes was quite memorable for Alice overheating. By the end I made her site in a freezing cold lake for 30 minutes to cool her core.
What a place indeed!
The magic of Stonehenge surrounded by a busy highways and fences. What a letdown...

of course, Stonehenge isn't in the Lake District, but I had to put the photo somewhere!
A couple of shots of Tintern Abbey in Wales we visited on the way up to the Lake District
