Western MA
We love western MA! How could you not when even the hideous architecture of UMass looks good surrounded by the yellows and reds of fall
The Connecticut River in all its glory
The Holyoke Range

We spend a lot of time walking along or hiking up to view the Connecticut.

This shot is along our favorite walk along the dike in Hadley

Another shot of Deerfield

The Pioneer Valley is famed for its cigar wrapper tobacco. To Ellie, the drying barns are a source of admiration and beauty.

They are closed up all year until the harvest when the slats are opened to allow the leaves to dry

On the fields right along the CT River are wonderful ski trails
The Connecticut mostly frozen
Spring at the same spot. All of the floodplain forest along the river is flooded this time of year

Gria frolics
I love this picture because the foreground is dark, but you you can still see the yellow shape of Gria
Shelagh on a fall hike in Gay City State Park in Connecticut. And yes I know that CT is a different state than MA (we wouldn't want the damn place anyhow), but I wasn't sure where to put the pictures
